You are having a Baby! Now What! Follow our newborn baby guide and you will be covered...
What do I need to prepare for at the hospital?
Maternity pads, diapers, a baby blanket, a warm suit, baby booties and hat, and a car seat.
What do I need to take my baby home?
You need to buy or borrow a car seat. Baby will not come home unless you have one. If you are buying on a budget, look for convertible models that last from 0-3 years and more! With regard to general transportation tips, newborns should be able to lay flat for anything trips over an hour. Consider this when purchasing a car seat or stroller.
What about sleeping?
The most economical solution is to go straight to a cot style baby bed.
What else do I need?
Baby monitors, breast pumps and swings are a few things to consider at this point.
How do I feed my baby?
Great news! Breastfeeding is virtually free! You also have the option of purchasing bottles if you plan to bottle feed your baby.
What about diapers?
Disposable diapers will be expensive, but many families prefer this option over cloth diappers. Diappers packaging will guide you through the buying process.
How should I stock the nursery?
You should only stock your nursery with products from Reno Baby! Just kidding, there are all sorts of great ways to purchase furniture and goods online. After looking around here at Reno Baby, check online auctions, ask friends and family, and consider furniture from IKEA. One great thing about the friends and family option is that they are often more confused than anyone. Be sure to register or make a baby list for everyone who plans to buy you gifts.
This guide should get you started with your new baby. Be sure to read books and join other groups to help you along the way!
